CEO Visits Stickers & More: Insights from Toby Hancock
On November 6th, the CEO made a brief visit to southern Daviess County to meet with Toby Hancock, Owner/CEO, and Alex Frederick, COO/Creative Director of Stickers & More.
During the visit, Toby shared valuable insights into entrepreneurship with the cohort, emphasizing the importance of hard work and dedication. Reflecting on his journey, Toby stated, "Entrepreneurship is a beautiful thing if you are willing to work at it."
Toby’s entrepreneurial path began in 1994 with the launch of Indiana Forms and Labels. By 1997, he ventured into the sticker business as The Sticker Guys, which later evolved into the re-branded Stickers & More.
In his discussion, Toby shared his story as he covered key principles, including:
1. The 80/20 Rule in Sales: Focus on the top 20% of efforts that yield 80% of results.
2. Diversification: Always have a backup plan.
3..Competitor Awareness: Understand your market and competitors.
4. Hiring: Recruit people smarter than yourself to strengthen your team.
5. Niche Identification: Find and excel in your unique space.
The visit included a tour of the print shop, where Toby and Alex hosted a Q&A session, sharing insights into their processes, including bar-coding and product innovation.
