On October 8th, the Daviess County CEO Cohort had the privilege of meeting with the owners of Martin Tire and Auto—Jay, Brock, and Stuart. The trio shared their journey of transitioning from individual careers to making the family decision to start a business together. Located in Montgomery, Indiana, Martin Tire and Auto has been serving the community for the past two years, and during that time, they have established a solid reputation as a full-service auto shop.
While the shop offers a wide range of automotive services, Jay, Brock, and Stuart noted that changing oil and tires forms a significant part of their business. They expressed their gratitude for the strong support they’ve received from the Montgomery community, attributing much of their success to the hometown connections they’ve cultivated.
The owners shared several valuable insights about running a local automotive business, focusing on:
***Maintaining Inventory: They discussed the challenges of managing stock, especially with the fluctuating demand for various tire sizes and types.
***Tire Quality: Ensuring that they offer high-quality tires and staying informed about the best products on the market is a priority for the shop.
***Great Customer Service: The Martin Tire and Auto team prides itself on delivering exceptional service, emphasizing the importance of building strong customer relationships.
***Hometown Service: A key element of their business is offering personalized, local service—such as picking up and dropping off vehicles for customers in the area—creating a convenient and community-centered experience.
In addition to these topics, the owners took the time to explain the Right to Repair Act, legislation that ensures independent repair shops like Martin Tire and Auto have access to the necessary tools and information to repair vehicles, keeping costs down for customers while maintaining quality service.
The visit provided invaluable insights for the cohort, offering a firsthand look at the inner workings of a successful small business. The Daviess County CEO Cohort extends a sincere thank you to Jay, Brock, and Stuart for taking time out of their busy schedules to share their experiences and wisdom.
