On September 11, 2024, the Daviess County CEO Cohort traveled to Indianapolis for an insightful session with two top executives from the Indianapolis Indians, the Triple-A affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates. The cohort had the privilege of hearing from Matt Guay, Vice President and General Manager, and Bryan Spisak, Director of Business Systems and Talent, and extends a big thank you to both for sharing their time and expertise.
During the session, Bryan Spisak emphasized the importance of honing interview skills, advising the group that they generally have just four to five minutes to make a strong impression. He also discussed the importance of connecting people with the organization's mission, a key element in achieving success in the business world. Additionally, it was interesting to learn about the influx of employees during peak season and the strategic use of retired individuals to help meet staffing needs.
The cohort expressed interest in learning how to maintain a healthy work-life balance, especially in the entertainment industry, which can often demand long hours and intense schedules.
The Daviess County CEO Cohort was also pleased to be joined by the Martin County CEO Cohort for the day. After the engaging presentations, the group enjoyed a partial tour of the stadium and ended the visit by taking a memorable picture on the field. The day wrapped up on a high note as the cohort enjoyed part of an afternoon game, providing them with a glimpse into the exciting atmosphere of professional baseball.
