The Daviess County CEO Cohort welcomed their first guest speakers of the year on August 13th, featuring Bob and Emmie Schultz from Effingham, IL. The father-daughter duo emphasized the importance of stepping out of one's comfort zone, with Bob's message centering around the concept of "Destroying Your Comfort Zone." He shared a powerful insight: “There is no COMFORT in the growth zone and no GROWTH in the comfort zone," inspiring the cohort to push their boundaries.
Bob, a successful entrepreneur, encouraged the students to "Engage Everyone" by mastering the three elements of a handshake: a firm grip, eye contact, and a smile. He also guided them to find common ground or something "incredible" with the people they meet. Emmie, a CEO Alumni and Nurse Practitioner, coached the students on business visit etiquette, including asking insightful questions like "Tell me about the culture of your company," and incorporating SWOT analysis into their approach.
Both Bob and Emmie shared examples of students who had stepped out of their comfort zones to achieve scholarships, internships, and job offers. They challenged the class to elevate their conversations from talking about people and things to discussing ideas. Bob concluded by urging the students to choose a lifestyle they love, not just a career.
Thank you, Bob and Emmie Schultz, for inspiring and setting high expectations for the Daviess County CEO students this year!
