On February 13th, the Daviess County CEO Cohort welcomed Geoff Stoner, a seasoned professional with 18 years of experience as the Environmental Health Supervisor at the Daviess County Health Department. His visit proved to be a valuable connection and resource for the cohort, particularly for CEO entrepreneurs exploring food-based businesses.
With a wealth of experience, Stoner highlighted the delicate balance between education and regulation in the food industry. Overseeing more than 200 food establishments, the Daviess County Health Department conducts an impressive 300–400 inspections annually to ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
Stoner also addressed the lasting impact of COVID-19 on the food industry, emphasizing that there was no predefined strategy for navigating such challenges. He advised the cohort to plan their personal time effectively, stay true to themselves, and remain adaptable in their pursuits.
Encouraging strategic planning, he urged students to set clear goals and establish priorities for the year. A significant portion of the discussion centered on the various permits required for food-based businesses, from home-based operations to retail establishments. The cohort eagerly sought clarification on these regulations, understanding that compliance is crucial for their entrepreneurial success.
The Daviess County CEO Cohort extends its sincere gratitude to Geoff Stoner for generously dedicating his time and expertise. His insights and advice provided invaluable guidance, helping the students navigate the complexities of health regulations in the food industry. Thank you, Mr. Stoner, for your support and for inspiring the next generation of entrepreneurs!
