Daviess County CEO Welcomes Chris Jarrett from Our Community Foundation
On January 22nd, the Daviess County CEO had the privilege of welcoming Chris Jarrett from Our Community Foundation. His visit provided valuable insight into the critical role community foundations play in fostering local development and addressing community needs.
A community foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing the quality of life within a community. It serves as both a financial and philanthropic resource, pooling donations and strategically managing funds to support local initiatives.
The Daviess County CEO has an endowment established through Our Community Foundation, to honor Bill Turner from the generous donation by the Gabhart Family, designed to assist former cohort students in securing grants to help fund new startup businesses. By distributing grants to local nonprofits and community projects, the foundation plays a vital role in strengthening the region.
Key Functions of a Community Foundation:
Grant Making – Providing financial support to local nonprofits and community initiatives.
Community Leadership – Driving change and encouraging collaboration.
Capacity Building – Strengthening organizations to enhance their impact.
Impact on the Community:
Social Cohesion – Uniting individuals and organizations around shared goals.
Local Development – Supporting initiatives that improve infrastructure and services.
Economic Growth – Stimulating entrepreneurship and job creation.
A sincere thank you to Chris Jarrett for sharing this valuable resource with the cohort. She challenged the cohort to be good stewards and to learn and re-invent themselves. Thank you for taking us through the application process . Her insights will undoubtedly inspire future entrepreneurs and community leaders!
