On Friday, February 14, the Daviess County CEO Cohort had the honor of hosting Mayor David Rhoads of Washington for an insightful discussion on the city's growth and development. Now serving his second term, Mayor Rhoads is a dedicated public servant who passionately shared his vision for the future of Washington. Prior to becoming Mayor, David served on the Fire Department for decades, 12 of those as Fire Chief.
When asked by a cohort, “why seek office”, Mayor Rhoads responded with heartfelt sincerity. "This is where I live," he stated, emphasizing his deep love for the community and his dedication to its well-being. "We need to take care of what we have, and most of all, I care about what happens to the people of Washington."
He also highlighted several key projects currently in progress, including the completion of the downtown commons, the addition of much-needed housing, and ongoing infrastructure improvements such as road paving. His commitment to seeing these initiatives through underscores his focus on fostering continuous growth and enhancing the quality of life in Washington.
Beyond governance, he shared valuable advice with the CEO Cohort, stressing the importance of balancing personal and family time, staying true to oneself, setting clear goals, and prioritizing tasks both personally and professionally. His wisdom resonated deeply with the young leaders, providing them with practical guidance for success.
In addition to discussing city affairs, Mayor Rhoads outlined essential leadership traits he believes are crucial in any organization. These include fostering strong public relations, practicing patience, maintaining a diligent work ethic, continually seeking education, and taking pride in one's community.
