On August 30th, the Daviess County CEO Cohort had the privilege of welcoming Chris Craig, founder of the new Home Harvest Real Estate Company, and his associate Adam Grimes, a CEO program alumnus from Mt. Carmel, Illinois. Chris Craig, a seasoned entrepreneur, is known for owning and operating the successful Invisible Fence company for over 20 years. After selling his company, Chris channeled his entrepreneurial spirit into founding Home Harvest, pursuing his passion for real estate.
During their visit, Chris shared invaluable advice with the cohort, emphasizing resilience and the endless possibilities that accompany new beginnings. "Don’t let the naysayers hamper your passion," he encouraged the students. He also highlighted the power of networking and the importance of making a strong impression through effective presentations. One of his unique tips was using promotional T-shirts as "walking billboards" to market a business, underscoring how even simple actions can lead to significant results.
Adam Grimes shared his own entrepreneurial journey over the last few years, offering insight into the unpredictable yet rewarding nature of business. His message to the students was clear: "TRY THINGS, especially when you are young." He encouraged the cohort to approach adults with confidence, stressing that customer satisfaction ultimately defines success. They also discussed the importance of recruiting the right talent, to grow your business.
Chris and Adam introduced the concept of the butterfly effect, highlighting how small actions can have far-reaching consequences. They also shared key values, urging the students to remember that while others may have their opinions, discipline, relationship-building, and a strong brand identity are essential to success. "Never take shortcuts in business affairs," Chris warned, "they will come back to bite you."
Their visit left the students with valuable lessons in perseverance, discipline, and the importance of a clear mission and brand in entrepreneurship. Thank you Chris and Adam for sharing and inspiring the cohort today, and for volunteering to be mentors to these young minds.
